A Canadian Story
Two families emigrated to Canada in the 80’s –one from Fiji and the other from the Philippines. One is Muslim, the other Christian–but both had the warm tropical island spirit for small community.
An Aussie guy opens a kebabs shop in Downtown Vancouver to bring the kebabs craze from Australia from Lebanese influences. In 2013, married couple Sheik (Fiji) & Kat (Philippines) bought the restaurant to serve the local businesses and international student community in Downtown Vancouver. With Kat’s passion for food and Sheik’s tenacity and strive for perfection they transformed Koala Kebabs. In honor and respect for her Muslim mother-in-law, Kat chose to serve only Halal food.
They celebrate the true spirit of Canada by offering diversity over authenticity, which is evident in the food they serve and with the openness they treat their customers.
